What is the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P)?
The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) will begin for PVUSD in the 2023-24 school year. “Expanded learning” means after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. This program is intended to support qualified PK-6th grade students with free after school, inner session, and summer programs for a minimum of 9 hours of care each day (which includes the full instructional day). To qualify for ELOP, the student must be part of our Unduplicated Count which includes: Free and Reduced Meal Program; Foster Youth/Homeless; English Learners. California Education Code Section 46120
ELO-P is required by AB130. The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program is required by California Education Code Section 46120. It states that LEAs must provide access to 50% of unduplicated pupils in grades TK-6 access to expanded learning opportunity programs.
